SINGAPORE has reported its first patient infected with the new A(H1N1) flu strain.
The patient, a 22-year-old Singaporean woman, had been in New York from May 14 to 24, and arrived here on Tuesday morning.
Advice from MOHSINGAPOREANS are reminded to maintain high standards of personal hygiene. This means covering your nose and mouth with a tissue when you sneeze or cough, and washing your hand frequently with soap and water, especially after contact with respiratory secretions (e.g.., after sneezing and coughing). We also need the cooperation of everyone to be socially responsible. This means staying home and avoiding crowded places (including trains, buses, offices), putting on a surgical mask and seeing a doctor if you have flu symptoms.
... more

While seated in row 55 on Singapore Airlines flight SQ25, she began to develop a cough, but she passed the thermal scanner at the airport later without being stopped, because she did not have a fever at the time.
Later that morning, she went to a general practitioner who decided to send her to Tan Tock Seng Hospital via the special ambulance service 993 meant for suspected Influenza A (H1N1) cases.
Laboratory test confirmed her infection at midnight on Tuesday.
The patient is being treated at the TTH Communicable Disease Centre and is in stable condition.
The Health Ministry said the patient has been vigilant in monitoring her condition and had sought immediate medical attention once she realised she was unwell.
"Her attending GP, through his quick response in activating the 993 ambulance for the patient, had also helped to minimise the spread of infection from this case," said a ministry statement..
The Health Ministry has begun contact tracing of those who have been in close contact with the patient.
They will be quarantined and given antivirals to prevent them from developing the disease.
The ministry asked passengers who had been seated in rows 52 to 58 on the same flight to call its hotline on 1800-333 9999, so that its officers can check on their health condition.
The Ministry has reminded all medical practitioners and healthcare institutions to continue to be vigilant to suspect cases.
Temperature screening for passengers entering Singapore at all checkpoints - land, sea and air - will continue.
All passengers passing through or entering Singapore are given Health Alert Notices on board their flights, advising them to monitor their own health if they have been to affected areas and to seek medical attention immediately if they are not well
Best Regards.

Shuttle Atlantis lands after delay

Shuttle Atlantis lands after delay
(01:22) Rough Cut
May 24 - The U.S. space shuttle Atlantis touches down at the Edwards Air Force base in California following two days of landing delays caused by bad weather.

The shuttle has completed a 13-day mission to refurbish the Hubble Space Telescope.

The astronauts installed a new camera, replaced batteries and fixed instruments on the 19-year-old Hubble telescope, repairs that scientists hope will keep it in good working order for at least another five years.

The astronauts fitted Hubble with an even more sensitive camera that should be able to image objects formed 500 million years after the birth of the universe.

The touchdown came at 11:39 EDT (1539 GMT) after bad weather stalled two days of landing attempts at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Father's love

This is a True Story!

Son asked his father, "Dad, would you be willingly to run a marathon with me?"
The father, despite his age and a heart disease, said YES. They ran that marathon together.
The son asks, "Dad, can you run another marathon with me?", again the father said 'YES'..
They ran another marathon, together.

One day the son asked his father, "Dad, would you please do the Iron Man with me?" ( Now, just in case you don't know, 'The Iron Man' is the toughest triathlon in existence - 4km swimming, then 180 km by bike, and finally another 42 km running, all in one race. ) Again the father said 'YES'

Maybe this does not move you yet by heart ... but wait till you see the video. Its ok if you feel like crying for the courage, passion and love for the son.... You will add to the > 2.5 Million people who had seen this.... and Don't wait to see it another day, JUST DO IT NOW!

Amazing

AMAZING... Perito Moreno Glacier
This only happens every four years - it is amazing what we can see from our own homes if we are unable to travel. This would be as exciting to see as Niagara Falls . Enjoy!! Judy Perito Moreno Glacier in southern Argentina . Read first then look at pictures... This is an every-four-year event that has gone on for centuries. Absolutely amazing! This clip is of the spectacular South American glacier, The Perito Moreno Glacier, which breaks up every four years. Like clockwork, give or take a week. There are photographers from the four corners of the earth that come to Southern Argentina and literally camp out at the glacier site in order to get the actual breakup on film. The individual who filmed this did a marvellous job. This is something nobody wants to miss!

Earth Hour 2009 in Singapore

Earth Hour 2009 in Singapore

On March 28 hundreds of millions of people in over 4,000 cities and towns in 88 countries voted Earth.

About Earth Hour Hong Kong

It's as simple as the flick of a switch. What began as a campaign to get Sydney-siders to turn their lights off, has grown to become the world's biggest climate change initiatives. At 8:30pm on March 28 2009, people around the world will turn off their lights for one hour – Earth Hour. We're aiming to reach one billion people, more than 1000 cities, all joining together in a global effort to show that it's possible to take action on climate change and play a part in ensuring a sustainable future.Earth Hour, initiated by WWF in 2007, had 2.2 million people and 2,100 businesses in Sydney, Australia turn off their lights for one hour. It caught the world's attention when its icons like the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House turned their lights off. In 2008, 50 million people in 370 cities across 35 countries participated in Earth Hour. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome's Colosseum and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square, New York, all stood in darkness, as symbols of hope for a cause that grows more urgent by the hour.If Sydney and 370 cities around the world could make it, Hong Kong can make it too.It is our turn to make a difference. On 28 March 2009, Hong Kong, will be joining Beijing and Shanghai to make history by joining Earth Hour, turning off the lights for one hour from 8:30pm to 9:30pm.It will be a time when Hong Kong joins other cities around the globe to turn our city dark, and for Hong Kong people to think about how we can change our lifestyles to reduce our impact on the environment, It will be a time when we rejoice and celebrate our determination to save our planet; it will be a time when we encourage our families, friends and colleagues to take actions on climate change. We can make a big difference with one simple action. So gear up for what will be the biggest and most important Earth Hour of our planet's history.

97years old doctor & this is what he has to say....

At the age of 97 years and 4 months, Shigeaki Hinohara is one of the world's longest-serving physicians and educators. Hinohara's magic touch is legendary: Since 1941 he has been healing patients at St. Luke's International Hospital in Tokyo and teaching at St. Luke's College of Nursing. After World War II, he envisioned a world-class hospital and college springing from the ruins of Tokyo; thanks to his pioneering spirit and business savvy, the doctor turned these institutions into the nation's top medical facility and nursing school. Today he serves as chairman of the board of trustees at both organizations. Always willing to try new things, he has published around 150 books since his 75th birthday, including one "Living Long, Living Good" that has sold more than 1.2 million copies. As the founder of the New Elderly Movement, Hinohara encourages others to live a long and happy life, a quest in which no role model is better than the doctor himself.

Doctor Shigeaki Hinohara JUDIT KAWAGUCHIPHOTO

Energy comes from feeling good, not from eating well or sleeping a lot. We all remember how as children, when we were having fun, we often forgot to eat or sleep. I believe that we can keep that attitude as adults, too. It's best not to tire the body with too many rules such as lunchtime and bedtime.
All people who live long regardless of nationality, race or gender share one thing in common:None are overweight... For breakfast I drink coffee, a glass of milk and some orange juice with a tablespoon of olive oil in it. Olive oil is great for the arteries and keeps my skin healthy. Lunch is milk and a few cookies, or nothing when I am too busy to eat. I never get hungry because I focus on my work.. Dinner is veggies, a bit of fish and rice, and, twice a week, 100 grams of lean meat..
Always plan ahead. My schedule book is already full until 2014, with lectures and my usual hospital work. In 2016 I'll have some fun, though: I plan to attend the Tokyo Olympics!
There is no need to ever retire, but if one must, it should be a lot later than 65. The current retirement age was set at 65 half a century ago, when the average life-expectancy in Japan was 68 years and only 125 Japanese were over 100 years old. Today, Japanese women live to be around 86 and men 80, and we have 36,000 centenarians in our country. In 20 years we will have about 50,000 people over the age of 100...
Share what you know. I give 150 lectures a year, some for 100 elementary-school children, others for 4,500 business people. I usually speak for 60 to 90 minutes, standing, to stay strong.
When a doctor recommends you take a test or have some surgery, ask whether the doctor would suggest that his or her spouse or children go through such a procedure. Contrary to popular belief, doctors can't cure everyone. So why cause unnecessary pain with surgery I think music and animal therapy can help more than most doctors imagine.
To stay healthy, always take the stairs and carry your own stuff. I take two stairs at a time, to get my muscles moving.
My inspiration is Robert Browning's poem "Abt Vogler." My father used to read it to me. It encourages us to make big art, not small scribbles. It says to try to draw a circle so huge that there is no way we can finish it while we are alive. All we see is an arch; the rest is beyond our vision but it is there in the distance.
Pain is mysterious, and having fun is the best way to forget it. If a child has a toothache, and you start playing a game together, he or she immediately forgets the pain. Hospitals must cater to the basic need of patients: We all want to have fun. At St. Luke's we have music and animal therapies, and art classes.
Don't be crazy about amassing material things. Remember: You don't know when your number is up, and you can't take it with you to the next place.
Hospitals must be designed and prepared for major disasters, and they must accept every patient who appears at their doors. We designed St.... Luke's so we can operate anywhere: in the basement, in the corridors, in the chapel. Most people thought I was crazy to prepare for a catastrophe, but on March 20, 1995, I was unfortunately proven right when members of the Aum Shinrikyu religious cult launched a terrorist attack in the Tokyo subway. We accepted 740 victims and in two hours figured out that it was sarin gas that had hit them. Sadly we lost one person, but we saved 739 lives.
Science alone can't cure or help people. Science lumps us all together, but illness is individual. Each person is unique, and diseases are connected to their hearts. To know the illness and help people, we need liberal and visual arts, not just medical ones.
Life is filled with incidents. On March 31, 1970, when I was 59 years old, I boarded the Yodogo, a flight from Tokyo to Fukuoka. It was a beautiful sunny morning, and as Mount Fuji came into sight, the plane was hijacked by the Japanese Communist League-Red Army Faction. I spent the next four days handcuffed to my seat in 40-degree heat. As a doctor, I looked at it all as an experiment and was amazed at how the body slowed down in a crisis.
Find a role model and aim to achieve even more than they could ever do. My father went to the United States in 1900 to study at DukeUniversity in North Carolina. He was a pioneer and one of my heroes. Later I found a few more life guides, and when I am stuck, I ask myself how they would deal with the problem.
It's wonderful to live long. Until one is 60 years old, it is easy to work for one's family and to achieve one's goals. But in our later years, we should strive to contribute to society. Since the age of 65, I have worked as a volunteer. I still put in 18 hours seven days a week and love every minute of it.

老妈:这个 " I don't know."

老妈:那 "I know."

know but I don't want to tell you."

"I’m very annoyance, don’t trouble
me...”

老妈又问:"I hear nothing, repeat Please."

I hear nothing, repeat please.

老妈再问:"what do you say?"

老妈:look up in the dictionary.

You had better ask somebody...”
God save me!

Use your head, then think it
over."
